The City of Huntsville is hosting the second public workshop for the Redstone Arsenal Joint Land Use Study (JLUS).  The City of Huntsville, in cooperation with Redstone Arsenal and other communities, agencies, and organizations in the region, is preparing the JLUS to address compatibility planning around Redstone Arsenal with the goal of achieving a balance between sustaining and supporting mission needs and protecting opportunities for community growth, economic vitality, and quality of life.  There will be a brief presentation and then participants will have an opportunity to review and provide their input on the potential compatibility issues in the vicinity of RedstoneArsenal through an interactive wall exercise.  Participants will be asked to vote on the relative importance of each issue.  Input from the community is essential to develop a plan that is responsible to local needs.

The City of Huntsville hosted the first Public Workshop for the Redstone Arsenal Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s National Geographic Theater in Davidson Center for Space Exploration located at One Tranquility Base in Huntsville, AL 35805.

The information provided at the workshop included an overview of the JLUS and JLUS process, the importance of the JLUS, and an overview of the compatibility factors that will be assessed. Attendees had the opportunity to provide input on the compatibility issues they would like to see addressed in the JLUS. In addition, the workshop included an overview of the Redstone Arsenal mission to provide an understanding of the military operations and the associated impacts in the project study area.
